Adoption and Immigration
Prospective Adoptive Parents in Canada should be aware that new immigration legislation makes it an offence for anyone other than an authorized representative to advise you on an immigration matter. This means adoption practitioners and employees of adoption agencies are not authorized to provide guidance on the best immigration stream, i.e. citizenship or Permanent Residence for an internationally adopted child, complete/ submit immigration forms, and more.
Prospective Adoptive Parents are also at risk of having Canadian Immigration (CIC) refuse their (adoptive child’s) PR or citizenship application, if CIC believes an unauthorized paid representative has assisted you at any stage of the application process. To read the details, please see: http://www.iccrc.ca/home.cfm (Public News section).
World View Adoption Association (WVAA) partners with West Coast Immigration Consultants to provide the full service of adoption and immigration for all international adoptions. (WVAA’s Program Director, Mr. Parmjit Mangat, heads West Coast Immigration.)
West Coast Immigration is a well-known Canadian immigration consulting firm which has been in operation since 1988. Prior to changes in the adoption laws of Ontario in 2000, West Coast Immigration provided services in facilitating relative adoptions. West Coast has extensive knowledge about the immigration laws and procedures as they relate to the immigration of adoptive children.
West Coast Immigration not only processes immigration applications for relative adoptions, but also provides the full range of immigration services required for the international adoptions of World View Adoption families.
In the event an immigration application for adoption is refused, West Coast Immigration assists in appealing these decisions before the Immigration Appeal Division of Canada.
