How to Adopt

There are many decisions to make before starting on the adoption journey.  Please see the high level steps in this process below:

• Attend an orientation session; read as much about adoption as you can;
• Decide on Domestic Private vs. International Adoption;
• If international, decide on the country;
• Register with an agency licensed for the country from which you wish to adopt;
• Complete PRIDE (Parent Resources for Information, Development, and Education) Training;
• Complete a Homestudy* and await your Ministry’s approval;
• Wait for a child proposal or ‘a match’  (time frames vary; faster if special needs, older or sibling children;)
